The Melrose Elementary PTO is organized by the school’s ­parents and teachers who are ­committed to fostering an ­environment of community at ­Melrose. We raise funds jointly with the school to promote continued growth and ­success in all aspects of student life.

The PTO’s fundraising efforts directly support these essential Melrose Elementary programs:

1:1 Technology

Melrose leads the way with a 1-to-1 program that utilizes technology as a powerful tool to investigate, collaborate, and bring ideas to life. Melrose students grades K-2 receive iPads and grades 3-5 Macbook laptops.

Science Lab with Makerspace

A recently unveiled extension to the science lab includes a new makerspace where students can work hands-on to complete science experiments and engineering projects.

Garden Ranger

Students are engaged through a seed to table curriculum provided by EnrichLA in an outdoor classroom setting.

Visual Arts

All students experience a custom designed visual arts program with disciplines such as painting, drawing and photography.

Choral Music

Choral music instruction is provided using a multicultural approach where students perform in two seasonal recitals each school year.

5th Grade Ballroom Dancing

All 5th grade students have an opportunity to learn ballroom dancing through a partnership with Conga Kids. Melrose 5th grade teams have placed 1st two times at city-wide ballroom dance competitions!

Staffed School Library

Melrose has a dedicated full-time library aide in a welcoming space to access books, share ideas and be creative.

Physical Education

An all around physical education program aligned with California State Standards is provided by Got Game.

Eureka Math Program & Coach

The Melrose math approach teaches Eureka Common Core aligned curriculum and adaptive and engaging DREAMBOX learning. The Math Coach supports teachers in learning latest pedagogies and supporting all learners.

Teaching Assistants

Dedicated staff works closely with teachers to support English learners, struggling readers and mathematicians to ensure each child meets their individual learning potential.
